What is Model United Nations (MUN)?

Model United Nations is a simulation of the UN which is performed by students from all over the world. Delegates debate issues that are currently being discussed by real diplomats. Each delegate is given a country to represent and will debate on their behalf.

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the UN which is performed by students from all over the world. Delegates debate issues that are currently being discussed by real diplomats. This debate takes place at conferences which include delegates from different groups or clubs. Each delegate is given a country to represent and will debate on their behalf. This long‐standing educational tradition of authentic simulation of UN bodies, such as the General Assembly, Security Council, and other multilateral organs. Through Model UN, students step into the shoes of ambassadors from UN member states and participate in a unique, interactive educational process that engages more than 500,000 participants around the world each year.

Model UN will constitute the primary activity of the UNA-Iraq. It will support the creation of Model UN Chapters and Clubs at universities and educational institutions across the country. Every year, UNA-Iraq will organize a Model UN Conference to bring together different chapters.
